Pre-revenue neoclouds, quantum and space names jumped 20–30% on backlogs and Washington cheques, while Reddit's 61% growth, Roblox's 36% and Alnylam's first $1B drug all got sold.

The Tape
The speculative top of the market threw a party, and the profitable bottom got handed the bill. AI Neoclouds ran +30.5% and Quantum +23.1% — one on a backlog CoreWeave hasn't turned into a profit, the other on IonQ revenue growth that was mostly a $1.06B accounting mark — while Alnylam crossed $1B in quarterly sales of a single drug and fell 25%, Roblox grew revenue 36% and shed $9B in value, and Universal Music grew 5.3% and lost a quarter of its market cap. The dreams got bid; the earnings got sold. This week, a real number was a liability.

The Stories
The GPU landlords rented out the whole market
The cleanest way to bet on AI this week was to own the building the chips sit in. CoreWeave, which rents Nvidia GPUs by the hour, opened its first Asia-Pacific data center and climbed 40% on a $98.8B pile of booked-but-undelivered orders.
It is worth noting what that backlog hasn't done yet: earn money. CoreWeave's Q1 net loss nearly doubled to $740M, and analysts expect its coming Q2 to show a decline. The market bought the backlog anyway.
The picks-and-shovels names, at least, brought numbers. Coherent, an optical-components maker, swung to a $191M profit as its datacenter revenue leapt to $1.36B; Astera Labs, which builds AI connectivity chips, more than doubled revenue to $392M.
And the bitcoin miners are quietly becoming AI landlords. Core Scientific grew colocation revenue to $136.7M from $10.6M a year ago and reserved 2.5 gigawatts for AMD; TeraWulf signed Anthropic, maker of the Claude chatbot, to a $19B Kentucky data-center lease. Now there's a business.
Washington made a market out of dirt
The rare-earth rally didn't come from China or commodity prices. It came from a White House guest list. President Trump hosted mining CEOs as his administration hunts for minerals to feed defense supply chains, and eight names lit up.
MP Materials, America's flagship rare-earth miner, doubled revenue to $108.5M and won a Pentagon guarantee of at least $140M in annual EBITDA from a facility that isn't built. NioCorp, a Nebraska developer, signed a scandium-supply memorandum with Lockheed Martin.
In fairness, the strategic case is real — the West genuinely lacks these inputs. But the tape wasn't pricing production; it was pricing proximity to a federal cheque. USA Rare Earth rose 33% on $5.7M of revenue and a $68.1M loss.
The same government-largesse trade ran through nuclear, where NuScale watched its revenue collapse 97% to $640K, widened its loss to $96.7M, and rose a quarter of its value anyway. The question is whether the cheques survive contact with the next budget.
A billion-dollar drug, a 25% haircut
The other half of the market spent the week being punished for delivering. Alnylam, a gene-silencing drugmaker, crossed $1B in quarterly sales of a single drug, AMVUTTRA — then fell 25% when it trimmed guidance as pent-up demand "normalized."
Roblox, the kids' gaming platform, grew revenue 36% to $1.47B and lost 28%; one product change, per the trade, "wiped out $9 billion." Reddit grew revenue 61% to $804.9M and tripled its profit, then dropped 15% on a data-scraping lawsuit and user backlash.
Music was a clean sweep of the same disease. Universal Music Group grew revenue 5.3% and shed a quarter of its value — a drop so unexplained the trade press openly asked why. Spotify passed its 300-millionth premium subscriber and fell 9%.
Even Rush Street, an online-betting operator, grew revenue 46% and doubled operating income into an 18% loss. Growth was everywhere. It just wasn't the currency anyone wanted to be paid in.
The obesity trade split on the middleman, not the molecule
The weight-loss sector barely moved as a whole, +2%, but underneath it the two ends pulled hard against each other — and the fight was about distribution, not drugs.
Novo Nordisk, maker of Wegovy, cut prices to claw back share it's losing and added an eye-disease side-effect warning to the label. It fell 11%.
Hims & Hers, the telehealth seller, jumped 19% for doing the opposite: it added Eli Lilly's rival GLP-1 treatments to its lineup, with its CEO comparing the move to "Netflix's early days." Lilly's Zepbound, for its part, booked $4.928B in the quarter.
The lesson isn't about semaglutide. When the company that makes the drug torches its own pricing while the company that merely ships it soars, the money has decided the shelf is worth more than the lab.
